Check out this AP article.
Lawmakers appeal to lenders on homeowners' behalf
By ANNE FLAHERTY
Associated Press
WASHINGTON -- Can't afford your mortgage payment? If the bank won't take your call, your member of Congress just might.
Several lawmakers whose districts are drowning in foreclosures are taking unprecedented steps to help people stay in their homes, including picking up the phone themselves to negotiate with banks on behalf of their constituents.
The pain of being put on hold for an eternity can be an educational experience for a member of Congress.
As a body, Congress has failed to come up with a broad fix for the foreclosure crisis. So some lawmakers are helping homeowners one at a time and seeking creative ways to make a difference in their districts.

Mind boggling! Wade just called me - Jan had seen it in your Facebook page, so I just looked here on the blog for news.

I'm too backed up at work to even read all the details right now. But things will no doubt work out for the best, whatever happens. Just don't get discouraged.

Great job on the article, which I finally read!
I guess it's always hard to be "out there" on a limb doing what some people deem inappropriate for a woman or girl, usually because in some way it challenges patriarchy. Like that brave little not-quite-12 year old girl in India who stood up to her family and her whole community to say no - she wouldn't agree to an arranged marriage - and set an example for girls all over India. Speaking frankly and in a healthy way about sex is "out there" in another way, and it's irritating to people who buy into traditional gender roles. Maybe particularly in the South? Anyway, your article conveyed good information and was intelligently written.
