So here’s the deal. Our townhome that we’re building has been “4 to 6 months out” for about 8 months now; they haven’t broken ground on it, and there’s no telling when they will. Meanwhile, our apartment lease is up in January, and the new management wants to raise our rent by about $300. We don’t want to pay that much for this apartment, and we don’t want to move into another apartment with no idea about when our townhome will be done, so we took the third option: we got our earnest money back (in full) from the townhome company, and we’re buying a house.
Since the last time we looked at houses, the market has gotten much, much better for buyers. We managed to find an incredible remodelled 3-bed 2.5-bath home for something like 25% less than we were going to pay for the townhome (which was smaller, had no yard, and had HOA fees to boot).
First, we’ve got a video walkthrough of the house with Kaston narrating. Unfortunately we only had our camera phones with us and not our real camera, so the quality isn’t great.
And here are a ton of pictures!

Wowsers! When you called, we were about to leave for dessert at Christopher’s. So we’re just now looking at the pics. The walk-through video is great - you really get a sense of the spaces, even if the quality’s not the best. The other pictures show all the details. Someone did a nice job redoing this house. Who could not like the colors, tilework, and flooring they’ve chosen? Very nice indeed. Are washer/dryer connections in the garage? Boy - your cats will sure have room to roam. This is a lot of space! And to me, with the older neighborhood, the trees are a huge bonus. Cool! It’ll really be green and leafy in the summer. If I’m not mistaken, I see some large crape myrtles — wonder what color they’ll be when they bloom! Congratulations!

By the way, for some reason I can’t hear the sound on your video tour. So I guess that door at the bottom of the stairs as you look toward the kitchen is the half bath, huh? And looking toward the fireplace, that door on your left goes into the garage? It’s interesting that the master bedroom closet is just an empty space — no rods or shelves. I would like that, because you can customize the space to fit the way you’ll use the closet, rather than being stuck with the outcome of someone else’s guess.

You are correct on all three! That is a 1/2 bath in the center of the first floor. It has a nice pedestal sink in it too. And there are two doors in the living on the left. The first is a closet under the stairs and the second goes to the laundry which goes to the garage. I am sure that the closet was set-up before, but was taken out to remodel. We will ask that they leave it that way so I can design it.
