At 2pm today I get a quiet little knock on the door. I set my costume aside and ponder who it might be. If it were maintainence they would bang on the door and so would any delivery personnel. I open it up to see on old lady holding a kitten. I say hello and she asks if I was the “Cat lady”. I laugh and tell her she was in the right place as a few of our cats goes skittering out of the door. As I grab up Nyx and Hemera while she tells me of two litters of kittens she has at her building and asks if I can take them. I said sure let’s go get them!

As I get my shoes on and grab the carrier, she says she wants to thank me for all I have done to help the kitties and then gives me this:

Did you count all of them? Well if you did you would have counted TEN. That is ten one-hundred dollar bills; one THOUSAND dollars!

As you might know, I am not a religious person, but I do believe in Karma. I rescue kittens because it gives me immense joy and satisfaction. I feed all the strays, even the raccoons and possums because we can. I know we have spent a lot on animals but if we would have had a baby it would have been even more. And they are all my babies.

But I never thought I would get more than food donations from the community. And this sweet old lady gave me part of her retirement because she has the same love and concern for our communities feral cats as I do.

So now my heart is filled with so much gratitude and our garage is filled with kittens. Life is good.

As a side note, last night while we were shopping for groceries, I preemptively grabbed 2 cans of kitten milk “just in case”. I must be a psychic!

EDIT!!!!!: Grandmom called and left me a message with the concern that all the bills had the same serial numbers. I just wanted to say that I was lazy and just scanned one and copied it 10 times. The lady initially gave me a check and that was the cash from the bank, and all the numbers are different!
