Red Lights and Red Suits

We live near a fire station, so the sounds of the trucks bellowing out their sirens is nothing new. If we are in our room, you can see the red lights flash through the translucent curtains because our apartment is close to the road and front gate. Tonight they came to our apartment complex.

I went to the window and saw an ambulance followed by a fire truck, but they did not come for an emergency. The ladder was decorated with 50s style Christmas lights and in the bucket at the end of the ladder was Santa, or rather a fire fighter in a Santa costume! And over the truck speaker they were playing holiday music interspersed with “Santa” belting out seasons greetings.

It was kinda cool. I know it brought a smile to my face.

Milk + Heating pad = disaster

For dessert we had milk and danish butter cookies in bed.  It is quite chilly here so I had a heating pad on under me to keep warm (cheaper than running the heater).  After we finished we laid down and Dean read for a bit and all the while I was roasting my back on the very hot heating pad.

About 1/2 an hour went by and my tummy started to make funny noises and I got - for lack of a better term - shit cramps.  Then for the next hour I made half a dozen running trips to the toilet with runnier and more explosive “bouts”.

Lesson for the day: don’t drink milk and then raise your body temperature to the point where milk curdles.  It ain’t fun!

Sounds like a fortune cookie doesn’t it?

Got my Wii!

Well we got our Nintendo Wiis today at work! Yay! I took a bit of a long lunch and played some baseball, boxing, golf, and bowling with Kaston. :) Now I just need to get some games for it (other than Wii Sports, the one that comes with the console). Here are the games I’m thinking that I want…

  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - They might has well have included this with the console. I don’t think I know a single person who is buying a Wii and doesn’t plan on playing this game.
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids - This one is basically a big collection of minigames of all sorts. I’m looking forward to inviting some friends over, opening some beers (or port for Kaston ;)) and playing this one all night.
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - A great looking superhero game, and one that even has a multiplayer co-operative mode that Kas and I could play together!

There are lots of other games coming out next year that I’ll want to get - Super Smash Bros., Metroid, Mario Galaxies, and such. With the ability to download and play old Nintendo classics from years past, I’m sure I’ll find plenty to keep me busy until then. :)

In case you were wondering

I was looking through old pics on my computer that got me questioning my current weight gain. I t was comparing these 2 in particular:

K- stairs 2.JPGStanding Small cropped.JPG

The first was from 2002 at 100 pounds (a little low) and the second was this year at 130 (a little high). I want the average of the 2 at 115, but I am too lazy to work out. George, you need to be my fitness coach since you go to the gym every day!

No more shots

PARENTAL WARNING: YOUR SON’S SEX LIFE IS MENTIONED.

For five years now I have had a constant flow of synthetic hormones in my body, and I want a break. Because of the birth control, I have gone from 100 pounds to 140 pounds; 20 pounds overweight, and I am sick of it.

A few friends of mine have told me their stories of gaining weight from using birth control, and then their rapid loss when they decided to stop. I just hope it is not too late for me, as in, I hope my body has not made this my baseline.

What caused this change? A few things, but 2 big ones: the death of a sex drive and the weight gain. The pregnancy prevention properties are not supposed to include prevention by not having any sex =(

Maybe I will get fitted for a diaphram, because I don’t trust condoms alone. Even though depo provera (the shot I have been on for years) is basically chemical castration, I still made Dean wear a condom because I really don’t want to get pregnant.

*scream* why can’t I find a doctor to fix me or Dean? No we are too young, no we need to have 3 kids, no you might sue us if you change your mind later. The reply of “If we ever want a child, we would prefer to adopt b/c I don’t want my body to ever be pregnant” does not work.

It would just be nice if I could loose weight, have a normal (3 times a week?) sex life, and not worry about getting pregnant.
