So I was cleaning out the closet and moved a box and BAM! The whole wall was black with mold.
Dean has been sick for a few days, and since he has allergy issues, I am betting that is what it is from; clothes filled with mold spores.
Here is a pic of that corner in the closet. Man it looks like we live in the slums, but I promise we have a nice apartment! Again, click the image to see the larger image.

Gross! Must be a plumbing or roof leak that’s been keeping that wall wet. Dean may very well be allergic to mold — I am.
I think that, as annoying as it would be, you should insist on being moved to another apartment, preferably in another building in the complex. Mold remediation is a big deal requiring ripping out sheetrock, carpet, etc., and will only stir up more of it into the air for ya’ll to be breathing. If the manager says it can just be “cleaned”, he should guess again. That would not likely be true.

It was in the carpet too, and on my new pink luggage =(.
I am sure Dean does not like the idea of moving. He hates every time we do it, even though I do most of the work.
When they send a person out, I will talk to them and see what they say.

Well one of the apartment guys was just here and looked it over. He said it was odd because the walls/carpet was not wet. At one point it had been, but it is dry now.
Tomorrow morning they will come back and cut some holes in the wall (on the other side on the wall where a garage is). He said they will also check all 3 floors and other 4 apartments that share that same wall.

Yet another update on mold.
They sent someone else over that cleaned and sealed the mold on the wall. I asked about the carpet and he asked his boss. It was ripped out along with the padding. There was not any visible mold on the back of the carpet, but there were stains on the cement. they are going to send someone out tomorrow to clean and seal the concrete before they re-carpet.
If all of this works, and Dean gets better I think we will stay here, but if after all the stuff they did it comes back because they can’t fin what leaked, then we will request an apartment change.

Are you going to ask them to pay for your damaged luggage? I doubt you can clean it without using bleach and taking the pink out!

I used a weak bleach and water solution and I think it is getting it w/o messing with the color. I will keep an eye on it, and if it cannot be restored, i will ask.
