Eric Forman. You’re a very realistic person, you

have flaws, like you’re a bit insecure.

Overall you’re a good person and a good

partner to be with.

New Record!

So today Dean and his company had to submit their game for a review which meant that the last few days were crunch time. Most of this week was 10-15 hour days for him depending on how much stuff he had to do, but yesterday topped them all! He went in at 9am (usual time) and at about 12am I went up there to hang out with him and the guys.

During most of crunch time, the day is spend waiting for this or that and they fill the time by playing games, Nerf gun wars, beer, porn, and other crazy antics followed by periods of frenzied typing to fix bugs that were found. After the bug fixes the cycle begins again. The end of the day is signified by a build that runs smoothly and everyone is happy with. There is no way of knowing when that one build will happen but I was hoping not too long after midnight.

I enjoy hanging around up there and it does not seem to bother anyone that I am there. In fact I feel like a part of the team in a way because I do little things around the place like letting other people in the building (doors auto lock at 6pm), picking up food, making snacks, ect. but last night I did one little thing that resulted in me helping the team. After making a game it gets monotonous to play it and you know exactly what to do and it is hard to find bugs sometimes. Well Dean handed me a controller and said play, so I did. I found a few little bugs, one of which Dean reported and I guess got fixed. So in one VERY small way I helped on the game.

Hours have gone by and I can’t count how many times I have laughed my ass off talking with Dean’s co-workers and bosses. I spend most of my time in other peoples offices while Dean is working on something or other. Each time they compiled a build we would cross our fingers to make sure it worked right. At about 4am I was tired and decided to go to sleep. The theater room is pitch black with the most awesome soft leather sofas I have ever seen! I laid down and rested for a while and finally at about 6am there was a build they were happy with!

Dean went in at 9am and got off at 6am for a record of 21 hours at work! He does not have to work today or Friday at all, but as it gets closer to D day for the game, this will become a routine schedule, and I am just glad I can come and hang out up there. I would not say it is quality time spent with Dean, but it is super fun for me!

First Day of School

Well tomorrow it starts at 11 am. I have a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule with Tuesday and Thursday off. I am taking 13 hours that includes political science (American government), intro to communication, quantitative methods (aka psyc math in stats), and abnormal psyc (about disorders and such). I go from 11am to 5pm on Monday and Wednesday with out any break for lunch (although that does not not mean I won’t eat, I will just be doing it in class). And Friday I go from 11am to 2pm.

I will go and see a counselor soon to fix some class errors they made (not counting classes in the right place) and to check my math on what I need to graduate. From my calculations, I will need 18 hours after this semester to graduate. Only 7 of those hours (2 classes) are a specific class while the others can be in any subject I want as long as 1/2 are upper lvl to fulfill the advanced hours requirement. The max hours one can take in May-mini-mester are 3, summer 1 and 2 are 6 each, so I will have to get permission to add 3 hours to that so I can graduate this summer.

I am so scared of graduating! I have no clue what to do. It has been suggested that I wait to go into grad school, but the only thing I know how to do is being a student. Too bad I can’t make a profession out of doing that! Just think how many classes I could take if went to school until I retired! I would be so smart and have dozens of degrees. I am just reluctant to give up my freedoms as a student like getting to choose when I have class and taking a month off in the winter. In the “real world” some boss will be ruling my life and deciding my schedule. I am not a morning person, but our society believes at being at work from 8-5. It is rare that a person gets to dawdle into work when ever they wake up (like Dean).

Good day!

If there is a religion I believe in it is karma. After the very shitty new years day, today has been great! Yesterday I got the leftovers from my financial aid which was $3,000 and we got Dean’s check today which is another $1,000!

We paid back the short term loan of $500 from the bank (the DDA I spoke about on a previous post), have a check for Wade for the $600 we borrowed a few months back, paid off the entirety of my credit card about $1200, and paid another $1200 on Dean’s card, paid all the bills and next months rent, and we still have $1,000 left. There is several places it could go: Harriet and Phil for the loan they are paying for us, Molly and Holli to help them out, pay off more on Dean’s credit card, ect.

I can’t help but imagine taking a few hundred and going shopping with it. I have never gone on a shopping spree before, and I could use some winter clothes, but I would feel so guilty about it. I can’t spend any money with out an awful feeling of guilt that ruins whatever excitement there is from the item because there are always places it could be better spent.

I will ponder it over and see who needs it most.

Hot Topic Interview

Kaston wrote:

I spent 3 hours this morning typing a application for Hot Topic. They had a PDF, which you cannot type over, so through some windows back doors I know, I filled in the information in word. The formatting (matching the new stuff up on the pre-existing lines) was what took so long.

I took it up there at 2pm today and got to see the store manager. She loved my pink hair (one reason I applied there so I can KEEP it pink!) and was really impressed with my typed application (the desired effect). She did a quick run though of my retail/management experience (Oxford Street, Renaissance Festival, and ODA @ UNT).

She seemed really glad I applied and said they needed another pink-haired employee (equal color employer? : ) and that I would be at the TOP of the list. They will start interviewing next Monday, and she promised me an interview.

I have a good feeling about it. And when I have an awesome feeling, I usually get the job, so I have a good chance!
